NC WARN has begun running this 30-second video as a statewide paid ad on TV newscasts, YouTube and other platforms. The video shows the aftermath of storms worsened by Duke Energy’s reliance on climate-wrecking fracked gas and urges Gov. Stein to take bold leadership. Static variations are on some social media and news websites. The first round will run for 12 weeks.
More than 150 environmental, social justice, faith and youth organizations and businesses have already joined the call for NC Gov. Josh Stein to stop Duke Energy Corp.’s expansion of planet-heating fossil fuels and obstruction of renewable energy solutions.
This ad campaign and letter to Gov. Stein come after the town of Carrboro sued Duke Energy — the third-largest corporate polluter in the country — in the first-ever lawsuit against an electric utility for harms caused by the company’s decades-long climate deception campaign.

Now in its 37th year, NC WARN is building people power in the climate and energy justice movement to persuade or require Charlotte-based Duke Energy – one of the world’s largest climate polluters – to make a quick transition to renewable, affordable power generation and energy efficiency in order to avert climate tipping points and ongoing rate hikes.
