CARRBORO FILM FEST SCREENING: “The True Cost of Power” Documentary

January 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join NC WARN on Sunday, January 25, from 12-1pm at the Carrboro Film Fest (hosted at the Drakeford Library Complex) for a short documentary screening and panel discussion.

Carrboro Film Fest is proud to present The True Cost of Power, a film by Durham filmmaker, D.L. Anderson. When the small town of Carrboro dares to sue Duke Energy for decades of climate deception, a damning pattern emerges of corporate power run amok. Through exclusive access to scientists, investigative journalists, and frontline communities, this documentary exposes the true cost of corporate power when billions in climate damages are paid by everyone except those who caused them.

The film will be preceded by “Hell in a Climate Haven,” a documentary short by UNCSA student filmmakers, Amelia Waldeck, and Thomas Comick. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, a woman searching for her emu, a man rescuing neighbors in a kayak, and local artists face the myth of safety in the mountains of North Carolina.

We invite you to join us for the film and a special Q&A with the filmmakers and leaders of NC Warn, a Durham-based climate justice organization.
