Last summer was our inaugural Youth Summer Series, and it was a great success. We are excited for another round of amazing participants to join us this year!
NC WARN is hosting its second Youth Climate Justice Summer Series (YSS) from June 22-July 15. This 4-week program will focus on building climate activists’ organizing and advocacy toolkits for 15-18 year old youth. We are seeking passionate and dynamic high school aged students for YSS who are excited to learn about climate justice activism.
Our participants will spend up to eight hours a week over the four-week period working on climate justice education and projects. The Series will comprise two 2-hr Zoom meetings/week, held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, plus around four hours offline/week working on work for the program (e.g. prep for the youth-led webinar). A $250 stipend will be provided upon completion of the program.
Participating in YSS will help amplify youth voices in the climate and social justice realms and to develop their skill sets as local advocates and activists. The program will provide its participants with:
- Education about environmental, social and climate justice issues impacting N.C.
- Tools to help spread awareness to peers of the participants
- Broadened leadership skills and ability to communicate about important topics within our local communities
- And more!
